Our clients were looking to extend their home and wished for light and spacious rooms to lounge and dine separately. Keen on dining alfresco, but with the British weather being unreliable, they asked if we could design an indoor dining room that had all the benefits of being outdoors – without the weather risks.
The use of two different Oak framed projects (Oak Garden Room and an Oak Orangery) across the rear of the property offers a cohesive look externally, providing much interest. Whilst internally the existing kitchen has become the central link between the two new rooms, changing the dynamics of the home. Previously the kitchen was a very dark room but has now also benefited from the natural light the projects provide.
The Oak Garden Room with exposed Oak beams and rafters has created a living room with a cosy country cottage feel that our clients desired, whilst still exuding character bringing a wow factor. Keeping clean lines with their extension design ensured balance with a modern nod to the existing home.
The Oak Orangery is a stunning place to dine with family and dinner guests. The roof lantern provides a central feature by day, pulling in plentiful natural light and by night it becomes a stargazing platform. Opting for floor to ceiling glazing along with bi-fold doors maximises natural light within the space and has created the much desired indoor, outdoor dining room.
We proudly season our Oak in our own drying yards, hand selecting every piece for our projects, ensuring only the highest quality beams make it into your home. Our specialist team, based at our Head Office, manufacture each building using state of the art machinery for precision. They then hand craft smaller details such as the traditional mortice and tenon pegged joints. Our Oak framed buildings are designed with quality and care, to last a lifetime.
