Oak Garden Room Extension with Slate Roof

Oak framed garden room with slate roof

From a terraced house in central London, to a farmhouse oasis and Oak Garden Room, hidden in the Cotswolds. We undertake projects that are sympathetic to each individual property and its surrounding location.

Believed to be constructed at the turn of the 19th century is this charming, secluded farmhouse which now proudly boasts a contemporary Oak Garden Room extension. From its elevated position the extension finds itself cloaked in the outstanding views of the surrounding pasture and woodland valley, all 160 acres!

Encircled by wildlife and such beauty it was integral that the oak building project blurred the boundaries between the inside and out. Opting for two sets of four pane bi-fold doors offers the opportunity to make the side walls all but disappear, immersing oneself with the outdoors.

The addition of the glazed gable makes a stunning feature for the project whist further encouraging plentiful natural light into the room. During the autumnal and winter months the underfloor heating helps moderate the temperature of the Oak Garden Room, along with the fully insulated roof, whilst the log burner provides an additional cosy ambience. Watching the seasons change in such a beautiful landscape is a precious experience that can now be enjoyed from the living room of their home, every single day.

The indoor outdoor living experience that has been created by this oak extension has enhanced the lifestyle of the discerning homeowners, bringing countless opportunities of embracing the outdoors and encouraging that much loved interaction with nature. The bi-fold doors are now open most days in summer, allowing pets to play openly on the lawn with the grandchildren coming and going as they please. Entertaining friends has also never been so easy.

The Design

“Our projects not only provide an investment in our clients’ lifestyles but also the value of their homes.”

The original farmhouse being a Cotswold stone construction under a slate roof meant careful consideration was needed to ensure the extension was sympathetic to the existing. Oak’s subtle natural appearance along with the provision of an increasingly important sustainable solution, meant it was an obvious choice for this Oak Framed Building project. The tiled roof being completed in slate offers a cohesive design solution, contrasting the deep tones with the warmth of the Oak and Cotswold stone, a fitting extension for a home that was once previously frequented by a famous author.

It is integral that for each project we design we have a considered approach and an understanding of how the existing home will work alongside and in harmony with the new Oak Garden Room.
